Description

Code of Conduct: Qualifying Breaches, Investigating and Sanctioning

Sanction a code of conduct breach without weakening the process or exposing the whistleblower

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

A code of conduct attached to internal policies only has effect if breaches are actually dealt with. In practice, facts surface late, evidence is fragile, compliance and human resources each expect the other to run the investigation, and the sanction appears either disproportionate or purely symbolic depending on the seniority of the person concerned.

This short-format programme brings together compliance and human resources professionals. Participants connect the anti-bribery code of conduct with the organisation's disciplinary framework, conduct an investigation that respects the rights of the person concerned, then build a sanction scale and ensure decisions remain consistent over time.

Learning objectives

  • Connect the code of conduct with internal policies and the disciplinary framework
  • Qualify a breach against the list of prohibited behaviours
  • Conduct an investigation that respects the rights of the person concerned
  • Set a proportionate sanction and document the reasoning
  • Ensure consistency of disciplinary decisions over time
