Description
Delegating Effectively: Choosing the Assignment, Briefing and Following Up Without Taking It Back
Hand over a complete assignment rather than isolated tasks and keep track of progress without redoing the work
- 0.07 days — 0.5 h
- In-person or virtual
- All levels
- Up to 6 participants
Managers tend to keep the files they know best, delegate at the last minute and take back control at the first sign of difficulty. Their personal workload never decreases and team members make little progress, because no one is given a complete assignment with genuine room for autonomy.
Thirty minutes online to put the mechanics of delegation in place: deciding what can be delegated and to whom, handing over the assignment together with its level of autonomy, setting review points and resisting the temptation to take the work back. The format focuses on a single management practice.
Learning objectives
- Identify the activities within your own workload that can be delegated
- Select the right person according to capability and availability
- Frame a delegation with its scope and level of autonomy
- Set review points without taking the assignment back
