Description

Fund Post-Trade Operations: Processing Orders, Striking NAV and Controlling Flows

Securing the fund processing chain from order receipt through to the settlement of units

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Fund post-trade operations leave no room for approximation: an order received after the dealing cut-off, a net asset value published with a valuation error, a settlement break left unresolved. Every incident has consequences for the unitholder, for the custodian and for internal control.

Two days to work through the complete chain: order centralisation, NAV calculation and review, settlement of units, then the treatment of corporate actions and outstanding breaks. This programme addresses operations and controls, not portfolio investment management.

Learning objectives

  • Position the role of each participant in the post-trade chain of a fund
  • Process a subscription or redemption order within the dealing cut-off
  • Review each stage of the net asset value calculation
  • Monitor the settlement of units and resolve outstanding breaks
  • Process corporate actions affecting a fund portfolio
  • Put in place first-level controls over sensitive operations

What makes this programme different

The full chain is followed through a single order, from receipt to final settlement
A NAV error is detected and then corrected using a procedure built during the session
Each participant designs their own first-level control plan for sensitive operations
