Description
Insurance Claims and Policies: Underwriting, Handling and Settlement
Secure the full life of an insurance policy, from risk declaration through to claim settlement
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
A claim is settled badly when the policy was framed badly: unsuitable cover, imprecise risk declarations, exclusions discovered only at the handling stage. The handler then arbitrates between the wording of the policy and the client relationship, without always holding the evidence required.
Two days online to connect the two key stages of the role: formation of the contract with its disclosure obligations, then claim handling through to settlement and recovery. The files worked on cover property damage and third-party liability claims.
Learning objectives
- Identify the legal effects of each stage in the formation of an insurance contract
- Verify the scope of cover and the application of exclusions to a claim
- Handle a claim notification and build the evidence file
- Manage a loss adjustment and challenge the conclusions of the report
- Calculate an indemnity taking account of deductibles and contractual limits
- Pursue a recovery action against the liable third party
