Description

Insurance Compliance: Mapping Risks, Running Controls and Reporting

Structure the compliance function of an insurance undertaking and demonstrate the effectiveness of the framework to the supervisory authority

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Expert
  • Up to 6 participants

Within an insurance undertaking, compliance covers a wide field: advisory duty and suitability, product oversight and governance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, personal data protection, complaint handling and distribution through intermediaries. The compliance officer must address all of these areas with limited resources, without becoming a second internal control function or a mere writer of procedures.

Two days to build a non-compliance risk map specific to insurance activities, design a control plan proportionate to the risks identified and organise reporting to executive management and governance bodies. Participants work on their own processes and leave with a structured control plan.

Learning objectives

  • Map the non-compliance risks specific to insurance activities
  • Build a control plan proportionate to the risks identified
  • Control adherence to advisory and suitability duties as well as product governance
  • Organise the oversight of distribution networks and intermediaries
  • Report on the framework to executive management and governance bodies

What makes this programme different

The risk map is built on the real processes brought by participants
Advisory duty controls are tested on anonymised underwriting files
An annual control plan is formalised by the end of the session
