Description

Internal Control over Treasury Operations: Mapping, Testing and Securing

Lock down payment and investment flows where fraud risk is most concentrated

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Treasury concentrates a company's most immediate risks: access to banking platforms, signature authority, urgent transfers and short-term investments. Control frameworks are often built up layer by layer, without any overall review, and segregation of duties disappears as soon as someone leaves or activity peaks.

This one-day programme provides a method for mapping treasury processes, identifying key control points and testing how effective they really are. It covers the management of banking mandates and user access rights, securing payment transfers, bank reconciliation, monitoring of investments, and reporting findings to the finance function.

Learning objectives

  • Map treasury processes and identify where they break down
  • Assess segregation of duties between commitment and execution
  • Review the management of banking access rights and mandates
  • Test the effectiveness of controls over transfers and reconciliations
  • Report findings and formulate workable recommendations

What makes this programme different

Control tests are built from anonymised bank statement extracts
Payment fraud scenarios are replayed to stress-test existing safeguards
Each participant leaves with a risk matrix adapted to their own organisation
