Description
Whistleblowing Systems: Setting Up Reporting Channels, Handling Reports and Protecting Whistleblowers
Set up a reporting channel people actually use and handle reports without exposing those who raise them
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
The whistleblowing system exists on paper but nobody uses it. The reporting address is barely known, confidentiality is not guaranteed in practice, employees fear the consequences, and concerns end up travelling up the management line or outside the organisation altogether. When a report finally arrives, the handling is improvised.
This short format brings structure to the whole process. Participants position the whistleblowing system within the wider anti-bribery and corruption programme, organise the reporting channel and the handling chain for each report, then put in place the measures that genuinely protect whistleblowers against retaliation.
Learning objectives
- Position the whistleblowing system within the organisation's anti-bribery and corruption programme
- Organise an accessible and confidential reporting channel
- Assess whether a report is admissible and decide on the next steps
- Conduct the stages of an internal investigation and report its conclusions
- Put in place measures to protect the person who raised the report
