Description
Working in Project Mode: Telling Projects from Day-to-Day Work, Organising and Tracking Progress
Understand what working on a project involves when project management is not your core role
- 0.43 days — 3 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
Being asked to lead a project often happens without any preparation. Day-to-day duties continue and the project is simply added on top, with no framework and no method. People move forward on instinct until deadlines collide and no one knows which tasks are still outstanding or who was supposed to handle them.
Three hours online to establish the essentials. What sets a project apart from routine activity is clarified, then the main phases and the handful of tools needed to stay organised are put in place. This introduction comes before the programmes devoted to scoping or detailed project control.
Learning objectives
- Tell a project apart from routine activity
- Position the main phases of a project and their purpose
- Break a project down into tasks and milestones
- Estimate workload and build a simple schedule
- Track progress and flag a delay in good time
